What is a Micro Wedding?

So a micro wedding is anything less than 20 people and can totally be everything you dreamed of for your wedding! Size has absolutely no bearing on the lavishness of the do, and even means it may be far more relaxed and possibly enjoyable too! Here are my top 3 reasons why a micro wedding is the way to go:

Keep the traditions you want, and get rid of the others at your micro wedding!

1) A Micro Wedding can save money and stress!

If you have less people at your wedding, you’re free to spend your money on things you may not have been able to if you had 80+ people. I mean we all know feeding lots of people can be expensive and complicated with all those options! A micro wedding might allow you to have the flower decorations you really lust after, or perhaps THE dress or outfit you really want.

Equally you can have a micro wedding and organise it in 3 weeks, with less stress and thought for all the extras. It doesn’t have to be about having the exact this, that or whatever, and it can be the most relaxed and enjoyable day. There is no doubt that not having to organise an event for all your extended family is more stress-free than making sure Aunt Mabel gets her gluten free and your warring sisters don’t sit near each other! A micro wedding can be far more relaxed, not only on the day, but in all the planning too.

2) It can be less daunting.

Another plus is simply there are less eyes. Being the centre of attention at a wedding can be really difficult if that’s not your bag, and at a micro wedding there would just be less of that. It can just be you and a few people having a great day. After a few I do’s it can feel much like a lovely meal with your favourite humans; a bit like a lovely Christmas lunch, that someone else has had to cook… and no paper hats! (Unless you want them – It’s your wedding after all!)

Spend time and money getting images you want and enjoying your day, your way!

3) Micro weddings are easier to make your own!

I’ve photographed weddings with 200+ guests and with 7 guests and the thing I love the most about each of them is how personal they are to the couple. How the wedding really is this couple’s way of saying ‘we love each other like this and forever’. With a micro wedding you really get the chance to make it your own, and in particular use the time the way you want. Go for the ride on the boat, cycle to your reception, arrive on a horse, slow down and enjoy it all! You take the time to get the images you really want from you day, without loads of group shots!

I’m passionate that a micro wedding can be a fabulous day that you can fully personalise and get some fantastic images. If not even more so, as there just isn’t the scale of timings and issues you would have with more people. Not only that but you actually get to talk to those special ones you have chosen, far more than you would ever do at a big do!

So let’s kick covid in the backside!

Covid may have changed our world a fair bit in the last year or so, but micro weddings are definitely one of the pluses. This is very much a positive way we can still show the world that love will always go on, and I will be there to capture it!
